What it does & Purpose

Synchronization bridges the audio gap between your desktop browser and your mobile device. Whether your headphone jack is broken, your Bluetooth headphones are paired to your phone, or you just want to listen to a movie playing on your laptop while walking around the house, Synchronization streams the audio tab directly to your Android device using WebRTC P2P technology for zero-latency playback.

Installation Guide

  1. Chrome Extension: Download the extension ZIP file above. Extract it. Go to chrome://extensions, enable "Developer mode", and click "Load unpacked" to select the extracted folder.
  2. Android App: Download the Android app from the Google Play Store and install it on your device.

What is Synchronization and how does it work?

Synchronization is a free wireless audio sync app that streams browser tab audio from your PC to your Android phone using WebRTC peer-to-peer technology. Install the Chrome Extension on your desktop, open a tab with audio, click Start Streaming, and a QR code appears instantly. Scan it with the Android app and your phone starts playing the audio within two seconds — no cables, no accounts, no cloud server required.

Does Synchronization work without an internet connection?

No. Although the actual audio stream is transmitted directly over your local Wi-Fi network (which is why the latency is so low), the app requires an active internet connection to communicate control signals. Actions like pausing, playing, and the initial connection handshake are routed through our signaling server, meaning you must stay connected to the internet to use the app properly.

Is Synchronization free to use?

Yes — completely free to download and use. No subscription, no in-app purchases, and no account required. The Android app is supported by non-intrusive advertisements.

Does it work on iPhone or iOS?

Not yet. Synchronization currently supports Android 7.0 and later. An iOS version is planned and will be distributed through TestFlight or the App Store when available.

How much audio delay is there? Is it truly low-latency?

On a typical home Wi-Fi network, the audio delay is well under 100 milliseconds — fast enough that you won't notice a lip-sync difference when watching video. Synchronization uses precision clock-based scheduling and drift correction to keep audio aligned continuously across all connected devices.

Is my audio private? Does it go through your servers?

Yes, your audio is private. Audio streams directly from your PC to your phone via WebRTC and never passes through Synchronization Labs' servers. The signaling server only facilitates the initial connection handshake — it never touches your audio. In rare network edge cases, encrypted TURN relay servers may be used, but they cannot access the audio content inside the encrypted stream.

What Android version do I need?

Android 7.0 (Nougat) or later. Most phones released after 2016 meet this requirement. Your phone and PC must also be on the same Wi-Fi network or connected via a mobile hotspot.

Can I connect multiple phones at the same time?

Yes. Multiple Android devices can join the same streaming session simultaneously. All connected phones play the same audio in sync using Synchronization's clock-calibration system — ideal for multi-room audio or sharing with multiple listeners at once.

Why is the Chrome Extension a ZIP file instead of on the Web Store?

Distributing as a ZIP lets us ship updates immediately without waiting for Google's review queue. To install: download the ZIP, extract it, open chrome://extensions in Chrome, enable Developer mode, click Load unpacked, and select the extracted folder. The whole process takes under two minutes.
